10/25/2004: "CPU Usage Still Up"

Okay guys, Hero got an e-mail back from Aplus about our CPU usage, and while the disabling of the randomquote scripts has lowered CPU usage significantly, our usage is still over what it should be. After some brainstorming this evening between myself, Hero, and Randy, it's been determined that frequent (and sometimes unnecessary) access of the logs is still putting strain on the CPU. For this reason, we ask that if you access the logs, please try to do so in as sparingly a manner as possible.

Yeah, that's true, whereas if you're constantly checking the logs, it has to keep requesting the entire log to the point where you're checking it.

In particular, the ideal way to go about it would be to download the entire log for any day you want to view only after that day is completely over, so that you only have to view it once.
