Seiken Densetsu Day, W00t!

Attention: Oldbies
 | | |
Alright, if you're not already acquainted with my idea, here it is, simply put: I would like to welcome back all manner of old SSUers, regardless of length of absence, past circumstances, or what have you. Anybody I can get a hold of. I don't, of course, expect a great deal of response. Probably a lot of these e-mails I'll be sending to are dead. Such is life. But for those who do receive it and choose to come back, I intend to welcome with open arms, and I expect more or less the same of all of you. If it's really going to be an issue, do talk to me, but I don't intend to exclude anyone from the invite for any reason. That said, I've written a preliminary (as denoted by the filename) version of that e-mail. I'm sure you'll note if you don't bother reading this part that it's not word-wrapped, so save it and view it in Word or whatever or copy and paste it for less hassle. It can be read at:

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or e-mail addresses for me, please do speak up. Thanks.

CPU Usage Still Up
 | | |
Okay guys, Hero got an e-mail back from Aplus about our CPU usage, and while the disabling of the randomquote scripts has lowered CPU usage significantly, our usage is still over what it should be. After some brainstorming this evening between myself, Hero, and Randy, it's been determined that frequent (and sometimes unnecessary) access of the logs is still putting strain on the CPU. For this reason, we ask that if you access the logs, please try to do so in as sparingly a manner as possible.

Chat Room issues
 | | |
For anyone else who hasn't read the logs. We received a message from admins saying our site is using too much CPU time. If we do not fix the issue, the site will suspended. I believe it may have to do with /randomquotefrom function. As of now i have turned that off. I have also reduced the refresh rate to 25 seconds, avatar to 260 seconds 15 total chat lines, and 10 total avatars. I ask that you go easy on the daily archives, as well as the refresh button, close the chat if you're not going to be in it.
The web admins have given us two days to reduce CPU time. They will get back to me in two says to see if we have been able to do so.
Thanks for your help guys.

Major topics of discussion:
Innovative "greetings" Nadia's backlog SSU's Server Woes: Episode XII "The Randomquote Reckoning"
Log size: 391 KB
There really wasn't a major topic of discussion yesterday. And my classification for such is at least three people talking about something for more than a screen of text in the log. A full screen for me is about 35 or 36 posts, estimated. And I don't really gauge it that accurately. Just in case you wanted to know.
